IS IT ALLOWED TO SLIDE TACKLE IN FUTSAL?
The matter “slide tackle in Futsal” creates lots of doubt, and is very common for those used to normal Soccer rules, not familiarized with the Futsal Rules.
WHAT SAYS THE RULES ABOUT “SLIDE TACKLE”
Futsal Rule number 12 talks about “Faults and violations”, and in the fault punished with “Direct Free-Kick” there is an item that says:
“To make a deliberate play, in a sliding way, and with the use of the feet to try to take the ball that is being played or in possession of the opponent, bringing danger to the same”
So, what the rule calls “sliding way” is what we popularly know as “slide tackle”.
WHEN IS THE SLIDE TACKLE ALLOWED IN FUTSAL
You can use a “slide tackle in Futsal” in the following situations:
• To block a kick;
• To block or intercept a pass;
• To maintain control of the ball, preventing it from going out of the court’s side or goal lines.
WHEN IS THE SLIDE TACKLE NOT ALLOWED IN FUTSAL?
The slide tackle in Futsal must be punished with direct Free-Kick in the following situations:
• When used to try to “steal” the ball in an opponent’s possession;
• When a contact or risk of physical contact with an opponent occurs.
SLIDE TACKLE AND RED CARD IN FUTSAL
The slide tackle in Futsal can be punished with the send-off, a red card, in the following cases:
• Severe rough play;
• Violent conduct;
• A play that puts the opponent’s physical integrity at risk.
