Time-out in Volleyball is a regular game interruption.

How to request a time-out in Volleyball?

Time-out requests must be made by showing the official corresponding hand signal when the ball is out of play and before the whistle of the 1st referee authorizing the serve.

Other Time-out Rules in Volleyball

During each time-out, the players in play must head to the free zone next to their bench.

For World and Official FIVB Competitions, the duration of the time-outs may be adjusted if the FIVB approves such request based upon a request from the Organizer.

For World and Official FIVB Competitions, the use of the buzzer followed by the official hand signal to request a time-out is mandatory.
