WHAT IS THE VOLLEYBALL 5X1 SYSTEM DOUBLE CHANGE?
Volleyball 5×1 System Double Change is a tactical strategy used by teams playing on the tactical system 5×1 (5 spikers and 1 setter).
WHEN TO USE THE DOUBLE CHANGE?
Due to the rotation system, when the setter reaches position 4 (the front row) at the same time the opposite will reach position 1 (back row).
HOW TO MAKE THE DOUBLE CHANGE
The Double Change is made simultaneously changing two players:
- The Setter at position 4 is substituted by an opposite;
- The Opposite at position 1 is substituted by a setter.
WHAT IS THE MEANING FOR A DOUBLE CHANGE?
The Double Change is used to improve the offensive and defensive strength of a team.
DOUBLE CHANGE OFFENSIVE ADVANTAGE
Using the double change, the team will have not anymore a setter in the front row, but a spiker (opposite) instead. In this way, the front row will be composed of 3 spikers, improving the power of attack.
DOUBLE CHANGE DEFENSIVE ADVANTAGE
Using the Double Change, the team normally gains height on the block system. The setter is usually not so tall and physically strong the opposite. Once now the team has the setter again in the back row, and the opposite in the front row, the players composing the block have physically advantage.
DOUBLE CHANGE ADVANTAGES
The main advantages within the Double Change are:
- Improved attack strength, once the team has 3 spikers in the front row;
- Improved block strength, (usually) all the front row composed with tall players;
- Improved offensive tactical diversity, once the team has 3 spikers in the front row.
