​What is the Yellow Card in Futsal?

The Yellow Card in futsal is a disciplinary warning.

​Yellow Card Infractions in Futsal

A player is penalized with a yellow card in Futsal if he commits one of the following infractions:

  • Delaying the restart of the game;

  • Demonstrate, by words or gestures disagreement with the decisions made by the referees;

  • Entering or re-entering the playing court without authorization from one of the referees or failing to comply with the substitution procedure;

  • Not respecting the regulation distance on a corner kick, a free kick or a sideline shot;

  • Persistently infringing the Laws of the Game. Referees must pay special attention to repeat offenders who persistently infringe the Laws of Futsal.

  • Is guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct.

  • Grabbing an opponent either by the shirt, shorts or any part of the body, acutely, with the aim of interrupting play;

  • ​Trying to Stop a Goal with your Hands

    Attempting to defend the ball with his hands in order to prevent a goal against his team, but failing to do so, except the goalkeeper inside his penalty area having the referee applied the law of advantage, immediately after the completion of the throw, must penalize this player with a yellow card.

    ​Yellow Card for Reserve Players

    The reserve player is penalized with a yellow card in Futsal if he commits one of the following infractions:

    • Delaying the restart of the game;

    • Demonstrate, by words or gestures disagreement with the decisions made by the referees;

    • Entering the game court without complying with the substitution procedure;

    • Is guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct.

    ​Two Yellow Cards in the same match

    In case the player commits two infractions sanctioned with a yellow card, even successively, the card must be shown twice and then the red card.

    ​Infractions for Unsportsmanlike Conduct

    The actions in which a player is cautioned with a yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct in Futsal are:

    • Trying to fool the referees by pretending to have suffered a foul or injury;

    • Committing an infraction in a reckless manner sanctioned with a direct free kick;

    • Touch the ball with your hand to obstruct or impede the progression of a promising play by preventing the opposing player from receiving it;

    • Committing a foul that interferes with or prevents an immediate promising attack, except when the referee awards a penalty kick for an infringement on the ball;

    • Prevents a clear scoring occasion for an opponent through an infringement on the ball and that the referee scores a penalty kick;

    • Touching the ball with the hand trying to score a goal, regardless of whether or not he succeeded or tries to prevent the opposing team from scoring a goal, without succeeding;

    • Making unauthorized markings on the playing court;

    • Throw the ball when you are leaving the playing court, after receiving permission to leave it;

    • Showing disrespect to the spirit of Futsal;

    • Deliberately employing a tactic or strategy to return the ball to your goalkeeper, including from a free kick, head, chest, knee, etc… in order to evade the rule. Restarts with an indirect free kick from the place where the player was;

    • Distracting an opponent with words and comments during the game;

    • Intentionally dislocating or knocking down the goal, without preventing a goal or obvious scoring occasion for the opposing team;

    • In an interruption of play, purposely preventing, attempting to prevent, delaying or hindering the resumption of play;

    • Entering the game court to recompose his team before the two (2) minutes of temporary ejection have elapsed or his team has conceded a goal;

    • Deliberately leaving the playing surface without authorization from the refereeing team;

    ​Celebrating a Goal

    Players can celebrate scoring a goal, but not excessively, must not do choreographies, and must not delay the restart of the game.

    It is not considered an infraction to go beyond the limits of the playing field to celebrate a goal in Futsal, but players should return as soon as possible.

    Even if the goal is disallowed, the player must be penalized if he commits one of the following actions:

    1. Getting close to spectators creates safety problems;

    2. Gesticulate or make provocative and exalted acts;

    3. Cover your head or face with a mask or similar items;

    4. Take off your shirt or cover your head with it.
