What is Caster in Futsal?
The Caster in Futsal are movements and change of positions in an organized and trained manner, which creates a movement pattern for a Futsalteam. In a good futsal training the rotation is fundamental in the tactical development of a team.
What is the purpose of Caster in Futsal?
The objectives of The Caster in Futsal are:
- Create a player movement pattern when the team has ball possession;
- confuse the appointment of the opposing team;
- errors in the defensive positioning of the opposing team;
- make room for infiltration of the ball and players in the opposing defense and;
- create spaces for finishing, kicks to goal.
Features of caster in Futsal
The Caster in Futsal is a repetitivedrive, performed when the team has possession of the ball, executed from a tactical scheme defined by the team.

Caster with 3 standard players in Eight behind
The standard 3-player Caster in Eight is used in futsal’s 3×1 Tactical System, where fixed and two Wards position themselves more indented for ball output as illustrated below:
Caption:
White dots = ball drive
Yellow arrow = player drive
-
1st move: Fixed receives the ball, passes to the Wing from the left and moves towards the left wing from behind.
-
2nd move: The Wing on the left receives the ball moving towards the center of the court, as shown in the image below:
-
3rd drive: In the next image, the Wing now occupies the center of the defense court, passes the ball to the Wing on the right and moves towards the right wing.
-
4th drive: At the same time the Right Wing receives the ball moving to the center of the court and can continue the rotation:

IMPORTANT! Did you notice that the Pivot is positioned and moving on the strike court? The player with the ball should always look at the movement of pivot and his teammates. If Pivot or another team player appears unmarked in a favorable position for an attacking or finishing move to goal, that move will take priority in the continuation of the rotation. See the example below:

4-player casters: Standard Wing
This rotation pattern we will call standard by the Ward,due to the movement of the players, in this type of rotation that always occupy the same wing (side of the court). This type of Caster is used in futsal tactical system 2×2. In the 2×2 system, there are two players positioned in defense (Ward and Fixed) and two players positioned on the attack court (Wing and Pivot) . I see the example illustrated below:
-
1st drive: The Fixed receives the ball, passes to the player positioned on the left wing and moves to the middle of the court and to right wing on the attack court. At the same time the player who occupied the right wing in attack, retreats to occupy the position of the Fixed on the defense court.
-
2nd move: The Wing on the left received the ball, passes to the Wing on the right and moves to the middle from the court and then to the left wing on the attack court. Atthe same time the Pivot who was positioned on the attacking court, retreats to occupy the position of the left Wing on the defense court.
-
And so the caster always follows in the same pattern illustrated in the images above.

WARNING! It is always good to remember that the player who receives the ball should first look at the movement of his teammates. If a team player appears unmarked in a favorable position for an attacking move, a table, an assist or finishing to the goal,that move will take priority in relation to the continuation of the rotation. Here’s an example below:
4-player caster: Round Pattern
This rotation system we’ll call it Round Standard. In this type of Futsal Caster all players are constantly and intense. This pattern of tactical movement requires athletes a great physical and technical preparation for a good execution. See the example in the illustration below:
-
1st move: Fixed receives the ball on the defensive court on the right side, passes the ball to the Wing on the left side of the defense court and moves down the aisle (lateral) to occupy the right wing on the attacking court
-
-
At the same time, the player who occupied the right wing on the attacking court will move to occupy the left wing on the attacking court
-
At the same time the player who occupied the left wing on the attacking court will retreat to occupy the left wing on the defensive court
-
At the same time the player who occupied the left wing on the defensive court and who received the pass, will move with possession of the ball towards the right wing of the defense court
-
-
-
After the complete rotation of the four players the team would be positioned as in the image below and would resume the rotation.
Did you notice the constant and simultaneous movement of the 4 line players from the first pass? But don’t forget! The priority of this movement is not the realization of the rotation itself, but to make room in the opposing defense for an infiltration, table pass or offensive assistance, with the aim of finishing the opponent’s goal.
What The best shape of rotation in Futsal
How do I know the best way to rotate for a Futsalteam? The tip is simple: training and testing! Test and test all forms of rotation in Futsal, see which movement pattern your team fits best. It’s no use you liking the round pattern and your team doesn’t fit it, for example.
Player features and caster pattern
There are some features of players in a Futsal team that can help you choose the team’s rotation pattern. For example: A team that has that typical pivot,strong, low-moving, but that protects and secures the ball well and finishes well, fatally should use the Standard Eight,as it is the most indicated standard to play with a pivot with these characteristics.
There are other rotation patterns in Futsal,basically these are variations of these three types of rotation that we show above. If you want to know more about other types of rotation, leave in the comments we will post other content on this topic.
